Mike Coronado: Founder of WestCor Construction
When Mike Coronado founded WestCor Construction in 1989, it was in response to the residential construction boom in the Las Vegas area. As President and CEO, Mike applied his vision and extensive construction experience to grow the company into multiple divisions to accommodate market demands in Nevada, California, Arizona and beyond. Under Mike’s leadership, WestCor Companies has become a dominant presence in the construction industry throughout the southwestern United States. The company is recognized as the largest privately held framing company in Nevada and a pioneer of safety standards and practices and receives numerous industry awards consistently each year.
A native of Glendale, Arizona, Mike originally entered the industry after graduating from Glendale High School. Accepting a position at a local lumber company, Mike sold construction materials to major framing contractors. One of those framing contractors offered him a position as estimator preparing bids, budgets, purchasing materials and managing costs for framing jobs. Impressed with his performance, Mike’s employer invited him to head up their new division in Las Vegas as they expanded their framing operations. After achieving success in that endeavor, Mike launched WestCor Construction in Las Vegas, which was later renamed WestCor Framing. During his career, Mike managed real estate operations and oversaw business enterprises throughout the western United States, which, in addition to construction companies, have included restaurants, storage facilities and land development ventures. He was also partner in the Lazy E, a renowned arena and ranch operation based in Guthrie, Oklahoma

After achieving success in that endeavor, Mike partnered with Jim Hammer of Westar Development in 1989 to form a new framing company. The new Westar/Coronado partnership became WestCor Construction.
In 2003, opportunity knocked again, when they created C & H Concrete LLC. By the end of that year C & H Concrete began operating under the trade name Coronado Concrete and quickly became a major specialty trade contractor operating throughout Southern Nevada.
In 2009, to better reflect the nature of the business, WestCor Construction began operating under the trade name WestCor Framing. Mike’s competent and aggressive leadership consistently expressed itself in hundreds of successful projects ranging from single family and multi-family housing to large commercial and industrial projects.
In 2011, Mike spun off various administrative departments into a separate administrative services company known as WestCor Companies, LLC. One of Mike’s newest ventures is ACMP Services which provides quality material placement services for contractors throughout Southern Nevada.
Sadly, on December 9, 2021, our beloved founder, Michael Coronado passed away. Mike was a friend and mentor to all of us at WestCor Companies. He built a company culture based on quality, safety, and reliability and he was committed and engaged with clients, employees, and the community at large. In his honor, the leadership team at WestCor Companies continues to uphold the standards which he built the companies on as they continue his legacy for and on behalf of his wife Becky and children Dason, Kagen, McKenna, and Kanden.
